November Date night
I found some tickets on Craigslist for a reasonable price this morning, drove out to The Woodlands at lunch time to pick them up, and called the babysitter this afternoon (and she was available)!!
Pair the show with dinner at Maggiano's and voila!... A perfect date night!!

Knowledge is power
I hate to admit it, but most every year when I vote, I tend to vote a straight ticket... Democrat, in my case. Aside from the "big" races, like President, Mayor, and Governor, I don't do much research on the rest of the candidates/races. Though I identify with most democrat ideals and consider myself one, it's always made me a little uneasy voting for ALL democrats on a ballot without even knowing anything about the people I was voting for. So, this year, with the encouragement of my oh-so-perfect-civilian of a husband, I decided to educate myself. It was actually quite empowering and took only about 30-45 minutes of my time. The League of Women Voters Guide makes it incredibly easy! The guide lists all races (national & local), gives basic info about each candidate, and asks a few basic questions of them. You can click on the link below, select the voters guide for Harris County, and download it.
FYI... I am voting for a few Republicans, believe it or not. Sometimes when I couldn't decide on one candidate or the other, I would pick the one who just "looked" better for the job (based on their picture). I even picked one guy because he was so very yummy looking. :-)
Anyway, Happy Voting!!

Love It!
David Sedaris (writer/comedian) on undecided voters: “I look at these people and can't quite believe that they exist. Are they professional actors? I wonder. Or are they simply laymen who want a lot of attention? To put them in perspective, I think of being on an airplane. The flight attendant comes down the aisle with her food cart and, eventually, parks it beside my seat. "Can I interest you in the chicken?" she asks. "Or would you prefer the platter of shit with bits of broken glass in it? To be undecided in this election is to pause for a moment and then ask how the chicken is cooked."
